So I decided to give a Deva Curl salon a shot. And wow! I was not disappointed. I could not believe how much definition my stylist was able to get without my hair feeling crunchy.

Did I mention Deva Curl products smell amazing? And they are good for your hair. AND THEY HAVE SO MANY PRODUCTS FOR DIFFERENT KINDS OF CURLS.
Ladies, you can't beat this stuff. They have a product for all types for curls, waves, ringlets, kinks, coarse, fine, dry, anything!
This is the company we've been waiting for. These are the products that will change your hair (and life) forever.
I'll admit, I never thought I would drink the cool aid. I didn't think Deva Curl was going to wow me, because it is just another hair care product that people are trying to get you to pay big money for... but seriously. IT WORKS AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK.
It's expensive, so I wouldn't be recommending it if there wasn't a return on investment here. The results are so worth it.

I started here and it lasted me for more than 2 MONTHS. I didn't need that long to make a decision but just in case you want to do a trial, these products are the perfect starting point!
HOW I USE DEVACURL

SHAMPOO (DETANGLE)
I watched carefully and paid attention to how my stylist washed and conditioned my hair because it was really important. Using the Low-poo delight she massaged my roots and scalp and really rubbed the product in throughout my whole length of hair. I even use this time to detangle a little because the shampoo actually helps my hair loosen up a little! At this point you want to make sure you know where you part is going to be for your hair.
CONDITION (DETANGLING CONTINUES)
Then she took 2 quarters size worth of One Condition Delight and gently fingered through my hair, starting from the mid lengths and working down to the tips, and then from the scalp all the way down again. Do your best not to separate curls into too many pieces. For my hair, I try to keep it to 1 in chunks of curls that naturally form when my hair is completely drenched in water. I typically leave the conditioner in for 3-5 mins before rinsing with COLD water. I know it hard in the shower, but it's so much better for your hair's moisture level! When rinsing, make sure to keep hair in think chunks of curls still.
STYLING
Once you've done a quick rinse, you'll want to flip your hair over your head (still dripping wet) and grab the Frizz-Free Volumizing foam and put about 5-6 pumps in your hand. I'm usually still in the shower at this point so I don't have to worry about dripping water everywhere. Using both hands, glide the foam over the back of the hair and then the front, spreading the foam over evenly (or start in the areas you want more definition e.g. the top layer of hair that usually gets frizzy). Do a few scrunches all over to help the curls develop.
Next I use the Wave Maker for extra hold. I get a quarter sized in my palm, rub my hands together and then start with the areas that need extra attention (e.g. face framing pieces, top layer of hair) and glide my palms over the hair gently, not separating the curls, but trapping the chunks between both hands and gliding down. Sometimes this pulls out the curl, so I do a few scrunches once I'm done to help the curls coil more. If you want a looser curl then don't scrunch.
TIP : If I notice a piece isn't behaving, I'll twist it around my finger to force it to coil.
Now I flip my head right side up and take a t-shirt towel or my Deva Curl Microfiber towel and lightly scrunch to remove excess water. I try to do as little towel drying as I can get away with because over drying it with the towel can cause more frizz.
For the best, frizz free curls, I recommend diffusing cool until dry. It really does help set the curl compared to air drying, but it generally takes a while to do. Like 20-30 mins :/
